In a fast-paced unique production where Oompa Loompas did double duty as actors and set crew, Bloomfield Players Community Theater celebrated its 28th season and its largest cast in over five years with Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka.
Director Steve Krupa, who has decades of stage production and direction, including last year’s BP production of Beauty and the Beast, designed the set that continually changed as the Golden Ticket winners tour the magical factory. BP also welcomes back Valerie Mould as choreographer who worked on many BP productions and welcomes the patience and talents of Dearborn music teacher Maria Lograsso-Gaitens as music director. Producers were Debby Portney and Sandi Krupa, who worked on many BP productions together including 2013's Fiddler on the Roof.
Playing the title role of Wonka was BP veteran Dennis Moylan, who in previous years starred as Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast and Gomez in The Addams Family. Sharing the spotlight with Moylan were six youth performers, including Asa Cengeri and Ewan Barnett as Charlie Bucket, Aiden Aronoff as Mike Teavee, Rachel Berris as Violet Beauregarde, Eli Eisenberg as Augustus Gloop and Alexis Forman as Veruca Salt.
